Be The Light

       What better way to start a blog than the beginning of a year? Well, maybe three weeks into the year, but we all know how this year started. The year 2020 has come and gone. Although it was a battle both outside and within, we are still here and we are stronger than before whether we know it or not. I chose to use 2020 to my advantage. Being stuck on an island in the middle of the pacific ocean has its benefits. Picking my camera up everyday, I tried to hone in on my craft and find my voice. 

        What I learned is that everyday is a lesson. Every situation is an opportunity. Every setback is a chance to prove to someone or ourselves that we will accomplish what we set out to do. I’m writing today as another reminder to myself and hopefully to whomever reads this, that the strength is within us to keep going. The young poet, Amanda Gorman, struck a chord in all of us at the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Gorman reminded us to stay true with the words, “For there is always a light / If only we’re brave enough to see it / If only we’re brave enough to be it.” Although the future is uncertain, trust in yourself and trust the process.
